Hi, I'm Jesse.
Nice to meet you.
I am an Experience Designer living in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. Read below for some highlights, including basic character traits, professional qualities, and personal flavor.
Artist from birth
I've been drawing and crafting aesthetic objects since I was a small curly-haired kid. Visual style, subtlety, and experimentation have always been interests of mine.
Strong thinker
My college degrees were in design and philosophy. I believe strongly in asking hard questions and looking at every circumstance -- whether a challenge or a windfall -- from every possible angle.
Easygoing guy
Where some designers see their job as defending their territory, I see mine as careful engagement and enthusiastic diplomacy, grace at the crossroads of competing interests (business, design, execution) while always representing the user.
Spec slinger
I enjoy the puzzling process of breaking down the behavior behind a design. I'm fascinated by the way a spec has to walk the line of perfect fidelity, communicating the intent of a UI while still respecting the judgement of both the developers and the user.
Code-curious
I was interested in programming before I took up design, and I've always loved the way the pieces are organized and put together. I feel right at home in XHTML, CSS, and IDE's, and I know how to talk to developers.
Keystone designer
I have been a sole designer on imposing projects, and Senior Designer on competitive teams. I've learned to balance high standards and reasonable expectations, to stand up for the user, and to be practical about doing my part.
Pop culture enthusiast
Talk to me about anything happening in the world of music, art, or entertainment. I have a vast reservoir of nerdy obsessions, and I would love to hear about yours.
Artsy gamer
I grew up in games -- tabletop fantasy games, collectible card games, but especially video games. Though I don't play as much as I used to, I still go to games for storytelling, deep experiences, and inspiration.
Family man
Married more than a decade, with two passionate kids... there's nothing better for leveling up my character, learning to manage conflict, and keeping my ego in check. It's a wild ride and I'm glad to be in the front car.
